About Wipro

Wipro is an IT services company based in Bengaluru. It hires engineering freshers through Elite, premier colleges through Turbo, and BCA/B.Sc. graduates through WILP (an M.Tech alongside work) - these programmes are on Wipro's official careers page.

This guide covers 14 Wipro interview questions with answers - what each question checks and how to answer it - plus the Wipro interview process, round by round, a 7-day preparation plan for freshers, tips and the mistakes to avoid.

Wipro hiring process

  1. Programmes

According to Wipro's official careers page, Elite is for new engineering graduates, Turbo for selected premier institutes, and WILP for BCA and B.Sc. graduates (a sponsored M.Tech alongside work).

  2. Step 1: Online assessment

Past drives have reported three parts: aptitude (logical, quantitative, verbal), written communication (an essay), and an online coding test in Java, C, C++ or Python.

  3. Step 2: Interview

After the assessment, technical and HR interviews - your project, the basics and a little coding.

The programme names are from Wipro's official Early Careers page. The assessment sections are based on reports from past Elite drives - check the current pattern in the official notice.

Wipro interview questions and answers

Written communication (essay)

Many people take this part lightly - and this is exactly where they lose marks.

  1. 1.Essay: 'How has technology changed our lives?' (example topic)

    What they're checking
Whether you can write your point in clear, correct English.
    How to answer
Three parts: introduction (2 lines), body (2-3 points, each with an example), conclusion. Short sentences, correct grammar, and stay on the topic. Right words beat difficult words.

Technical round

  1. 2.What is the difference between C and C++?

    What they're checking
    Programming basics.
    How to answer
C is procedural; C++ adds classes and objects (OOP). C++ also has function overloading, references and the STL.
  2. 3.What is a pointer?

    What they're checking
Understanding of memory - essential in C/C++.
    How to answer
    A variable that stores the address of another variable. Give a small example: int x = 5; int *p = &x;
  3. 4.What is the difference between a stack and a queue?

    What they're checking
    Data structures.
    How to answer
Stack = LIFO (last in, first out), like a pile of plates. Queue = FIFO (first in, first out), like a ticket line.
  4. 5.Name the layers of the OSI model.

    What they're checking
    Networking basics.
    How to answer
Seven layers: Physical, Data Link, Network, Transport, Session, Presentation, Application. Even better if you can give each one's job in a line.
  5. 6.Write code for the Fibonacci series.

    What they're checking
    Loops and logic.
    How to answer
Run a loop with two variables (iterative) - more efficient than recursion. State the approach first, then code.
  6. 7.What is an API?

    What they're checking
    Understanding of modern software.
    How to answer
A way for two pieces of software to talk - like a weather app asking a server's API for data.

HR round

  1. 8.Why Wipro?

    What they're checking
    Research and seriousness.
    How to answer
Link what you have read about Wipro's programmes or an area of its work to your career goal.
  2. 9.Why is there a gap in your education?

    What they're checking
An honest reason for the gap.
    How to answer
Give a direct, honest answer - what you did in that time (preparation, a family reason, a course) - and say you are fully ready now.
  3. 10.Tell us about your backlog.

    What they're checking
    Honesty and responsibility.
    How to answer
Don't hide it. Say what happened, how you cleared it or are clearing it, and what you learned.
  4. 11.Can you work in shifts?

    What they're checking
    Practical fit.
    How to answer
Answer honestly. If you are ready, say so clearly.

More technical questions

  1. 12.What is a constructor?

    What they're checking
    OOP basics.
    How to answer
A special method that runs when an object is created and sets initial values. Give examples of default and parameterized constructors.
  2. 13.What is the difference between SQL and NoSQL databases?

    What they're checking
    Understanding of databases.
    How to answer
SQL - tables, a fixed schema, joins (like MySQL). NoSQL - documents/key-value, flexible schema, built for large scale (like MongoDB).
  3. 14.What is Git and why is it used?

    What they're checking
    A basic tool for teamwork.
    How to answer
Version control - a record of every change to the code, separate work in branches, and merging with the team. Explain commit, push and pull.
