This guide covers 13 Capgemini interview questions with answers - what each question checks and how to answer it - plus the Capgemini interview process, round by round, a 7-day preparation plan for freshers, tips and the mistakes to avoid.

Capgemini hiring process

  1. Step 1: Online assessment

A separate coding round has been reported in some drives.

  3. Step 3: Technical and HR interview

    Basics, your project and HR.

Capgemini interview questions and answers

Parts of the test

  1. 1.How do you prepare for game-based aptitude?

    What they're checking
Logic and speed - a different format from normal MCQs.
    How to answer
Read each game's rules carefully first. Focus on accuracy at the start; speed will come. Use free online practice games to get used to the format.
  2. 2.How do you do sentence correction in the English section?

    What they're checking
    Understanding of grammar.
    How to answer
Check subject-verb agreement, tense and prepositions. Read the sentence in your head as if aloud - your ear often catches the mistake.
  3. 3.How do you solve para jumbles?

    What they're checking
    Logic and reading.
    How to answer
Find the opening sentence (one that doesn't depend on another), then build the order using linking words (however, therefore, this).

Technical round

  1. 4.What is the difference between a compiler and an interpreter?

    What they're checking
    Programming basics.
    How to answer
A compiler turns all the code into machine code at once (like C); an interpreter runs it line by line (like Python).
  2. 5.What is recursion? Write a recursive factorial.

    What they're checking
    Basic logic.
    How to answer
A function that calls itself, with a base case. fact(n) = n * fact(n-1), and fact(0) = 1. Say what happens if you forget the base case.
  3. 6.What is a deadlock?

    What they're checking
    OS basics.
    How to answer
Two processes keep waiting for each other's resources and neither moves ahead. Breaking any one of the four conditions prevents it.
  4. 7.What exactly was your role in your project?

    What they're checking
    Hands-on work.
    How to answer
Say 'I' instead of 'we' - what you wrote yourself and what you learned.

HR round

  1. 8.Why Capgemini?

    What they're checking
    Research.
    How to answer
Link what you have read about the company's global work or a technology area to your goal.
  2. 9.What if you get a role you don't like?

    What they're checking
    Flexibility.
    How to answer
Stay positive: say you will learn something from every role, and work towards moving to the area you are interested in.

More technical questions

  1. 10.How do bubble sort and quick sort differ in complexity?

    What they're checking
    Algorithm basics.
    How to answer
Bubble sort is O(n²) - simple but slow. Quick sort is O(n log n) on average, O(n²) in the worst case - fast in practice.
  2. 11.What is big data?

    What they're checking
    Industry awareness.
    How to answer
Data so large, fast and varied that normal tools can't handle it - volume, velocity, variety.
  3. 12.What is IoT? Give an example.

    What they're checking
    Technology awareness.
    How to answer
Devices connected to the internet that send and receive data - like a smart meter or a fitness band.
  4. 13.What is the difference between a primary index and a secondary index in a database?

    What they're checking
    DBMS.
    How to answer
A primary index is on the primary key, with the data in the same order. A secondary index is on another column, in a separate structure.
