Cognizant interview questions and answers

Technical round

  1. 1.Fix the given buggy code.

    What they're checking
Reading code and spotting the mistake - many tests have 'fix the code' questions.
    How to answer
First understand what the code is meant to do, then check loop boundaries, conditions and return values. The bug is usually in one or two lines.
  2. 2.Explain GROUP BY and HAVING in SQL.

    What they're checking
Practical SQL - important for higher tracks.
    How to answer

    How to answer
For security, thread safety and the string pool - a string never changes once created; a change creates a new string.
  6. 6.What is the DOM?

    What they're checking
For web-focused tracks such as GenC Next.
    How to answer
The browser keeps an HTML page as a tree; JavaScript can find elements in this tree and change them.
