How to Answer "Why Should We Hire You?" (Examples for Freshers and Experienced)

This question sounds like a challenge, but it is really an invitation: summarise why you fit, in your own words. The interviewer wants to hear that you understood the job and can connect your experience to it.

The formula: two needs, two proofs, one reason

• Read the job description and pick the two most important requirements.
• For each, give one specific proof - a project, result or number.
• End with why this role and company, in one sentence.

Example for a fresher (software role)

"You need someone who can write clean code and learn quickly. In my final-year project I built the backend for an attendance app in Node.js, which our college now uses for two departments. And during my internship I learned React from scratch and shipped a feature in three weeks. I want to start my career on a product team where I can keep learning, and your graduate program is exactly that."

Example for an experienced candidate (sales role)

"This role needs someone who can open new accounts and manage long sales cycles. In the last two years I brought in 18 new mid-size clients, and I closed our largest deal - a six-month cycle with five decision-makers. I'm looking to sell a product I believe in to larger companies, and your move into enterprise is why I applied."

Mistakes to avoid

• "Because I'm hardworking and dedicated" - every candidate says this. Show it with a proof instead.
• "Because I need this job" - true, but it is about you, not them.
• Comparing yourself with other candidates - you don't know them.
• Repeating your whole resume. Two proofs are enough.
